FIDO SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Thank you for your interest in FIDO Publishing.
At this time, we are now only accepting submissions by invitation or referral.
Whatever your writing experience or resume, whether you run with the big dogs or are a pup of great potential (as we all once were), we at FIDO know you are intelligent, erudite and expressively articulate…otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading these Submission Guidelines. But, because we, too, are authors, we know you may sometimes have lapses of, oh, let’s say, obedience (writers do tend to be a spirited pack), so we will do our best to clearly state
- what we’re looking for,
- the format in which we expect to receive it, and
- what to expect after submission; the steps of the process from submission to contract.

What We’re Looking For
FIDO is currently accepting:
- Fiction
- Non-Fiction
- Poetry Collections (please don’t submit individual poems)
- Unpublished works with available rights
- Published works and Reprints with available rights
Works submitted to FIDO must be:
- Original works and in the English language
- 10,000 words minimum
- Complete (please do not submit query letters, partial submissions or work on spec).

Formatting Checklist
- My document is fully completed and is an original work by the submitting author or author’s legal agent
- I am attaching only ONE document .doc (Word) or .rtf (Rich Text File) sent as an ATTACHMENT to an email and addressed to submissions@fidopublishing.com
- My email subject line reads: FIDO SUBMISSION: TITLE OF WORK
- My document has 1 inch margins all the way around
- My document font is set as Arial, 12 point
- My document is double line spaced throughout, including between paragraphs
- My paragraph indentation is 0.5 at beginning of each paragraph and I did not use the SPACE BAR to indent the beginning of my sentence. (Bad! Bad SPACE BAR! Go to your crate or I will get the paper!)
- I have used NO extra “RETURNS” or spaces between paragraphs
- Between Scene Breaks of my document I have used four asterisks with single spaces in between and typed on its own line
- If my submission is more than 20,000 words, I have begun chapters with the word “Chapter,” typed and centered on its own line, followed by the correct subsequent chapter number
- If my submission is more than 20,000 words, I have inserted hard Page Breaks between chapters and have NOT used paragraph returns to make those breaks appear
- If my submission is co-authored by one or more authors other than myself, only one submission of the work will be made
- My Word or RTF document file is titled as follows: author(s)_title. For example, John_Smith_Fire_Dogs_I_Have_Loved
- In the top left of my Email Submission, I have included:
1. my legal name (legal names of all co-authors)
2. my pen name (pen names of all co-authors)
3. my email address (email addresses of co-authors)
4. the complete and full title of the work I am submitting
5. the word count of the document
6. the genre or genres of the work
7. a brief summary of the book of approx. 1,000-2,000 words
What To Expect Once You Submit
Once you submit your work, you will receive an acknowledgment letter within five business days. Typically, we at FIDO will be able to respond to you between 4-6 weeks after we receive your submission. If you do not receive an acknowledgment letter within five business days, or you do not hear form us regarding your submission within six weeks, please contact us to let us know.
